Our Purpose

The purpose of Calvary Chapel is threefold:

  1. To worship the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  2. To build up the church of Jesus Christ through the teaching of the Word and the ministry of the Spirit.
  3. To persuade men and women to repent and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe in one living GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all.
  • We believe in GOD THE FATHER, and infinite Spirit person perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Virgin Mary, of the Holy Spirit.  We believe in His sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.
  • We believe in the HOLY SPIRIT, who came forth from the Father and Son to convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ.  We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.  We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit.
  • We believe that the SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts and that they are the infallible rule of faith and practice.
  • We believe that all PEOPLE are sinners by nature and choice and therefore, are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
  • We believe in the universal CHURCH, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members.
  • We believe in the LAYING OF HANDS for filling with the Holy Spirit, for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons and for healing of the sick.
  • We believe in the personal, visible RETURN OF CHRIST to earth to establish His kingdom: In the resurrection of the body and the final judgment and eternal blessings for the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.
  • We believe in the APOSTLES CREED, that it embodies the fundamental facts of the Christian faith:
    • I believe in God the Father Almighty and in Christ Jesus, His only Son, our Lord
Who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
Who was crucified under Pontius Pilate and was buried
And the third day rose from the dead
Who ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of the Father
Whence He comes to judge the living and the dead.
      And in the Holy Ghost
      The holy church
      The remission of sins
      The resurrection of the flesh
      The life everlasting.
  • The Apostles’ Creed was not used or formulated by the twelve Apostles of Christ. This version was probably a creed used during baptisms in the first or second centuries. Slight changes in the wording of the Creed occurred until about the sixth century as the Church struggled to define the mainstream of an orthodox theology in the face of the frequent heresies that sprang up, such as Gnosticism and the denial of the humanity of Christ.
